Kia ora. The Wellington Kōmiri Physiotherapy Team work largely in the inpatient setting at Wellington Regional Hospital. Kōrero mō te tūranga About the role

Our current post holder is heading to Melbourne and we re searching a physiotherapist with a passion for acute neuro to join our team. The in-patient Regional Neurosciences Service is a 25 bed unit specialising in care for people affected by stroke, neurosurgery and neurology conditions. 

Key roles and responsibilities include team cooperation with the inpatient tracheostomy review outreach MDT and maintaining and further developing strong links with the Central Regional Stroke Network. 

This role is part of the Neuro-Medical-Ortho physiotherapy mini-team. Led by a dedicated Kairuruku/Coordinator, this mini team works cohesively and responds to capacity demands as a collective group. With seven experienced and advanced physiotherapists, there is an open and respectful culture with shared mentorship and clinical discussion. Team members in this group are actively involved in research and projects including Functional Neurological Disorder research, leading the DHB s HQSC Trauma project and acute frailty models of care. 

In addition to supervising students, this role also works alongside and mentors a Core 2 rotational physiotherapist. The mini-team kairuruku/co-ordinator also works part time on the ward and with her depth of clinical experience, provides mentorship and peer support for the clinician in this role. 

Moū About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist with experience working with adults in acute neurological assessment and rehabilitation. Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs, you ll demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and have a flexible, problem solving approach. Experience in vestibular physiotherapy would be advantageous.
